Arusha has one of Tanzania's smallest parks. The park is located 25 km northwest of Arusha and can be accessed through two entrances: Ngurdoto Gate and Momella Gate.
Arusha National Park has 3 well-defined zones: The Momella Lakes, the Ngurdoto Crater, and the Mount Meru, 4th African summit at 4566 meters in altitude.
It is possible to climb Mount Meru. Birdwatchers are particularly fond of this park.

Habitat & Animals
Arusha Park features extremely varied vegetation, ranging from lush rainforests at the foot of the Mount Meru to the vast grassy plains dotted with acacias. The marshes and wetlands around the Momella Lakes contrast with the arid landscapes of the Ngurdoto Crater highlands. This biome diversity creates a rich and complex environment, offering varied habitats for a wide array of animal species, while being less populated than other parks in Tanzania.

GUEREZA COLOBUS
Arusha National Park is home to the Guereza Colobus, easily recognised by the long white hairs on either side of its body.
They live in small groups of up to 15 individuals. The group is made up of a dominant male, females and their young. This species lives in forests, usually near rivers or lakes. Each group defends its domain from other groups. Guéréza colobus monkeys can grow up to 70 centimetres long, with the largest males weighing up to 14 kg. Colobus monkeys have no thumbs, an adaptation of their arboreal lifestyle.
Their main predators are chimpanzees and leopards.
